Do have an opportunity to invite your graduates to return and talk with your current students?

Many of our instructors can use themself as an example of a success story as well. I always make it a point to let the students know that I myself was a student at our school, and decided that my ultimate goal was to come back and teach here one day. I can think of no more direct example of success to show the students.

In th ecourse of my travels to many races I run into former students of mine that are now successfully employed on race teams and in businesses. I also relate the similarities that these graduates have (as far as having to work hard to get through school) to my current students. This shows them that there is a payoff for the hard work, and they control their own destiny.

We have race teams that have hired our students use our facilities. Current students can see former students working.

yes I use other techs that I have worked with and working conditions, to give them something to look forward to,let them know that it is a good field that they are getting into.

How do you demonstrate that this is true?

We explain to our students that you get out of the class what you put in it.

In our program, we have the opportunity to share success stories from graduates of the class. Some have gone on to open their own businesses, become the elite technician at a dealership, and some have even aquired positions on race teams. This helps to encourage the current students to perform better so that they can follow the same paths.

I have to agree, that by showing the student that a real person that is now famous in the field started out like they did can encourage the students.I also belive as a instructor we need to encourage all our students.

Do you use outside resources as examples and role models?
