Electing a classroom manager (student) who might be struggling in class could be a great opportunity for that student to feel important and to development a better self-image(this particular student may not receive the encouragement from home). Student will be responsible for cleaning the white board, taking pride in the classroom clean-up. Make sure you recognize student by giving the student a special certificate of appreciation.

I think you may have a good idea. Take a struggling student and give him/her some pride by giving them a task they can complete and see the good results.

What do you mean by "electing" a classroom manager, Kathy? Is this person someone who stays after class to clean up the room? Do they feel they should be paid for this service?
