From Inquiry to Graduation
I believe when a person makes an inquiry into a school they are taking a step to improve their life. Retention begins with the marketing used by the school and is the responsibilty of EVERYONE in that institution to support the student through graduation. Does your school view retention as the responsibility of EVERYONE or just some departments?
My view on this comment is that my campus says that retention is a part of the campus (from admissions, financial aid, and instructors, etc), but actually isnt. Retention in our campus is placed on the shoulders of the instructor and their managers. At times it is very hard to stay on top of it, and at times I feel that it isnt fair. Not fair to the student nor the instructors. I make it a point to get to know my students so that my retention stays high.
Another variation of your question, Martie, is whether the individuals themselves at the institution accept the responsibility for all students through graduation. The institution saying and the people doing are often two different things.
