I agree that a good mix of older and younger is beneficial to the overall learning experience. It allows the older student to mentor the younger and also opens up lines of communication and the sharing of ideas that typically differ between the age groups.This leads to positive reinforcement and a greater success rate.

Sounds like you have a great way of opening up lines of communication and inspiration for all your students. While the 'younger' ones benefit from the experience and wisdom, I'm sure the adult students benefit as well from reflecting on their experiences. Sometimes, it takes actually telling our story to help us process :)

I agree with this statement. What I have done as faculty is use the adult student's experience and wisdom to share with the younger generation. It creates a bond, opens the lines of communication, and develops a mentoring relationship that benefits retention goals.
I agree with you 100%. We have many older students who are afraid they wont "fit in" with the population. But, they often are a valuable resource to the younger students.
