Frequent Starts
At our school, we have weekly starts. This poses challenges in following up with new students. Our Orientation process is good, I feel but I would like some suggestions on what to do to get a "temperature check" after the first couple of days of class. Keep in mind that I'm an Admissions Rep, so I have my limitations as I'm expected to continue to bring in new starts.
That is a wonderful idea the students will feel welcomed. I will suggest this idea here at my school
Thank you for those suggestions! We have already started to make some changes that make the student feel welcomed: A bulletin board is placed at the reception area with the names of all new starts and the same names are on each of the corresponding classrooms for these starts.

Wow...that is really a challenge.
The first thing that comes to mind is that happy students will be your best source of referrals which will in turn help you meet your new start goals. So checking in with the students you've started could help both with retention and recruiting.
If you have emails for your new starts, perhaps a standard, but customized message week 2 or so would be a good idea. You could ask how things are going, and also if they have any friends or acquaintances that might be interested in attending as well.
