I make a point to email each of my students after thed first day of attendance in order to welcome them to my class and to start that "Trust Factor" for my class.
I really like these ideas. I would love to try this. Since some of my students are from out of town and don't have easy access to a computer. I was thinking of doing that on paper and pass it to them? Thanks for the great ideas!

I think that is a great idea and a nice addition to welcoming. Another thing that I have done along the lines of email contact is sending motivational quotes via email to the entire class. I send them every Sunday night to start the upcoming week off on a good foot.
