Students Expectations
It's important that building Institutional credibility and sharing students expectations should be shared to staff when enrolling students.
Alphia,
This is true and why it is so important for everyone to set the appropriate expectations from the start.
Susan Backofen
Some student enroll in school with the expectation that it will be easy, they need to be aware that only with hard work, time management, study time and perseverance will they succeed, complaining about the assigned home work and not being able to have a personal life, will only impede their success. They need to be mentally and emotionally ready to enter a learning environment, because one failed quiz or exam may determine their decision to continue school.
I agree that giving the students the facts about different professions is crucial to the retention and success of the students. As and example: Students who have a phobia about needles may not be successful in some allied health programs. Clarity and understanding the student will help them to choose the career for which they are best suited.
True expectations of the program as well as the job opportunities and what the job entails is very important when enronlling students into a program. A program needs to fit the students needs as well as their desire to improve and motivate.
