Our career services team gets invovled so students see who there dealing with on the front end of your program AND on the back

We use all departments at the school. The director of financial aid does a short presentation, as does the registrar. The director of career services starts off the orientation and then leads a few exercises with the students, the librarian and externship coordinator also conduct sessions. Of course, the Campus President and Director of Education also conduct key sessions.

Student services are very involved with all aspects of a student's school experience. They help students with all sorts of issues that might interfere with their overall performance in their studies.

Student services. It seems like evertime one of our students has a question, whether or not it should be addressed by student services, the first place they go for help is the student services department. These staff are usually asked to mingle with the students during orientation.

The more the students feel a part of the college the better. I want to make the students feel valued, respected and worthy. Their college should feel like a 'home'.

Besides the admissions representatives, the student services and career service administration are all part of orientation. They reflect on the successes of past students, and discuss how they too can be a success story. All new students will have a tour of the campus, get their ID’s, books, materials and introductions to staff (library, computer lab, etc) as they tour the school. At the end the credibility of the instructors is discussed and the instructors are introduced and they take over.

Once again I must beg ignorance of our orientation program but, from what I have observed while on-campus and assuming that it bears some relationship to the orientation, the involvement of current students with the new students is well-established here and has proven to be a great asset. I assume these same student ambassadors may participate in the orientation. Beyond the orientation, the student ambassadors make it a point to make an appearance in a class during the first week to introduce themselves, explain their roll, inform the new students of a couple of the non-school related activities going on, such as our food-bank and toy-drive as well as how they can most easily make contact.

Career Services is very involved with our students and is part of our student's orientation.

Mary,

These two areas are so important. While everyone plays a role and assists the student in getting started and staying, the above topics keep them focused on the end-result, a career!

Currently we are bringing them to the orientation rooms and department heads come in and speak with them. They fill out paperwork, and if necessary then meet individually with their program director. Seems to me, we have some changes to make.

Education and Career Services play an important role in our orientation program. Program directors talk about the specific programs and the activities and content of the course. Our career services will discuss externship and job placement.

Academics of course......each program has an instructor present themself and their acievements over the yrs to the new students

The faculty are ionvolved in greeting and ushering the students around the campus to meet in groups the people that they will spend there time here at school with and finding the instructors that they are scheduled to start with.

The support staff helps the students find there way around campus to get uniforms and pictures also any final documents that are outstanding.

reception, as well as the learning resource center - with both you include them in Orientation by having them introduce themselves and explain what they do

Financial dept. interact with students a lot, at the begining anyway. The instructors themselves need to attend and get involved at orientation. Introduction, past experience and history of performance at institution on behalf of instructor needs to be communicated with students.

Students services have a lot of interaction with the students and I help out by giving them job leads.

i believe it is better for the students to understand to be Chief they have to work hard to get the out come of the Chief..

We have a representative from Career Services come by and teach a one-hour segment on resume writing and discuss general tips on interviewing.

I work at a technicial school and sometimes prospective students will be brought around the school and shown the different classrooms, labs, etc. I will always answer any questions they might have if they are brought over to the area that I am teaching in.

It’s very important to introduce each department and to explain the students responsibilities for interacting with each department.
1) Education department –explain how things work, accreditations, program expectations, attendance policy, grades, schedules and to whom students should see for various issues.
2) Career Service-explain how things work in this department, how to get prepare for that important part of your experience at this school; how to apply for help in finding initial employment and the expectations of the employers.
