Second Orientation

I am interested in having a second orientation during the 1st week of class small group setting. Any ideas?

We give the students a second day of Orintation the first day they are back to school, and cover dress code , conduct, professionalizm, gradeing and in general what it takes to make it through the program.

At our institution we have a new course for the students every 3 weeks, and on the first day we go thru what we call SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) They dont change much only in that each course might have slight changes in certain things. ( Labs, amount of tests, etc) But after so many of these mini-orientations I see that the students dont want to hear it. I have had to peak their interest. I always refer back to money. I promise them that by me reinforcing what I expect out of them during the course will make them more succesfull, I feel that keeps up my retention in a big way.

I think that is an excellent idea. It reinforces the material covered in a fun way.

An idea I had was to prepare a question and answer form all coming from the things that you went over in class on the first day. And maybe even a small scavenger hunt around the room for certain item and locations of training aids and/or tools. Have fun with it and they will remember.

What would it consist of?
