we have created a new student passport the encourages the students to mingle and get there passport stamped off as they find the correct people they must meet on this first day. the activity introduces them to the campus and key personal. this helps with the first day jitters. they will also meet faculty that they may of may not have teaching there first class.

I think that having a friendly approach and clearly outlining the expectation in the classroom, answering the students questions and letting them know that you are there to assist and guide them.Reassuring them that you are there to help them be successful and face the future with knowledge and practical experience.
