Engaging Students After Orientation
We believe that it is critical to continually engage students to remind them of their goals and why they decided to pursue their career path.
James,
I love this idea!~ Having them all participate, share and have to give some real thought to their motivation for returning to school is excellent.

Several weeks into the program I run a class discussion on motivations and obstacles. One of the assignments is for the students to make an 8 1/2 x 11 poster that depicts why they came to college. It typically includes pictures of a better life for their kids, themselves in a job that they enjoy, etc., and occasionally some pictures of the old job they never want to go back to. I then have them slide it into their binder cover to look at whenever they are having doubts.
