Part of the team
I've been using the "you ARE each others team" approach in my into classes ... the camaraderie has been surprising and seems to have an overall positive effect, even to the point that the student body is now actively involved in the retention effort.
At the school I teach at we administer a similiar approach having the students work in groups of 4 or 5 which allows them to utilize a team perspective approach and more progress is noticed from this process.
Everyone wants to belong to a group and be part of a teams success. This group envolvement, in addition to increasing retention, teaches students to work together in groups, which they will need upon completion of their studies in the business world.
Nice. This model facilitates ownership, whcih is key to success; well at least it does from my experience.
Great! I always stress that networking is an essential skill to success and that the students should start the process day 1 with getting to know each other.
Agreed! When students feel part of a team environment- there is more buy in from them. I think they feel part of something larger, more powerful, and this can certainly contribute to keeping them engaged and on-track.
Robert,
Excellent! The more people that are engaged in the institution and the success of each other, the more successful everyone becomes.

It is very important to promote team work in the classrooms and around your campus. I feel that if students feel like they are a part of a team/group of people who are striving for the same common goal, they will stay engaged and complete.
It seems that in successful endeavors there exist the need for a team approach and the success of a school amnd a class we need to create that sense of 'team' to get the the most postive results. When the students feel that there is a team helping them succeed they do not alone that 'me against the world' on the journey.
