First week activities
How would you design first week activites for online students who can register at any time and take the course at their own pace?
It is important to map out the course of instruction for the student's expectations. Immediately you must gain the student's attention liking their study with their projected career path.
Interesting question! Obviously,this makes group projects and activities of any sort way more difficult!
My first reaction would be to build an extended orientation of some sort...occassional activities or discussion board postings that are required and would give you some idea of how engaged, frustrated or lost people might be. This would also help you to refine/enhance your online orientation program.
