I welcome the students into the class by using their first and last name. I create an open atmosphere so that the student feels comfortable with me and feel free to ask for any help needed. I try to find out the students strong point in regards to their knowledge and interests. I feel that once this type of connection is created, the student will be able to learn and participate in my classroom projects.

I pretty much do the same thing and I just try to be carefull not to interupt the class by putting a student on the spot not all students like that but I do have the class introduce them self and where they are from and it does create a good atmosphere for all.
