The Three "M"s
From reading this material, I got from it that we as Teachers/Instructors should be treating our students as humans. When I walk through the Campus, I greet everyone, even if I do not know them. So, business as usual for me.
Well I start by emphasizing that you need to look like a professional. I then try to stress the importance of having compassion and empathy for your patient. If you lose compassion then you need to remove yourself from being involved in patient care.
Thanks, Mindi. What are some of the things that you do to make this happen?
I work for a medical college and I try to train students as if I may one day need care and they will be the person helping me.
i just try to treat everyone like i would want to be treated. most of the time when i say hello or ask how a student is doing that is walking through the halls, i get a shocked look from them. almost like no one has ever said anything to them before.?
Students are humans John..thats the point. We need to keep that in mind when we deal with their issues.
