Student Retention

At my school as part of the admission process we have integrated a per-intake interview for the incoming student. The students get one-on-one attention, they get to meet and talk with the instructors and support staff, it also give the student the opportunity to asked any pending questions, or seek clarification prior to the start of the program. Each interview last 15-20 minutes, mentorships are formed and our faculty get to formalate plans for academic success based on predetermined questions asked of the student, with the process we have seen an increase in enrollments, retention and overall student satisfaction.

This course is very informative, it has given me good ideas that will also be integrated into the programs.

Kent,

That's a good question. However, I truly believe online school selection is so much more focused on program choices and what the student sees as convenient.

Ron Hansen, Ed. D.

Thanks for the information.
I think most schools could do a better job with their online admissions process.
In other words, how do we put the face to face feel into the online environment?

John,

Providing product knowledge to the reps should be an ongoing activity. Key points about each course given to the reps will go a long way.

Dr. Ron Hansen

We have the same problum the reps are misleading the students my suggestion is to have the reps meet with the instructors for each class to learn what the class is about so the students are given the correct information about the class they will be attending.

Unfortunately, as an instructor, I often listen to the admissions reps give false information to the prospective students. I don't believe that they are tryig to mislead the prospective student. i beleive they are just uninformed and lack proper training.

Sounds as if the program you have is very succesful. Our school has some of the same practices.

This program sounds great, helps to introduce the student to the start of mentoring that will be there for them through out their time in school as they go through .
