Mentoring
mentoring has a huge impact. Not only is peer appreciation and understanding one of the well lit areas of adult education but it has been proven with programs in high schools and middle schools for years. In the adult education profile, students realizing that they are not alone is so important for their success, both in school but for their networking possibilites after school. Having another on your side when the times get rough or being able to ask for guidance when their pride is high is huge. Implementation may take some time to develop at our college however I think that the students that learn together and with one another are stronger and feel more empowered!
Roy,
Mentoring does require careful planning.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
As with your college Hilary, mentoring may take some time to implement here, but I think it could greatly assist students that don't entirely realize how busy of a program they have gotten themselves into. With a mentor program in place, I firmly believe that it can insure that students have every possibility to succeed, even ones that may have a higher probability of failure.
Agree wholeheartedly. Getting the right type of person with the right attitude is paramont. A mentor with a less than excited attitude will only decrease the effectivness of the program. I would not to be mentored by somebody that really doesn't want to be doing it, but, is because they "have to".
I agree A good Mentor can really take their student to another level in their learning, understanding and practical application of their subject
Corinna,
Yes, peer mentoring is very helpful. Research indicates students retain more information when teaching others.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Student support and mentoring from each other not only staff is vital in their success.
DANIEL,
Mentoring helps in so many ways. Good mentoring can almost seem effortless. The mentor facilitates, guides, and suggests to the student.

Mentoring is important for the student to be good at what he or she does
Hilary,
The key to the mentoring program is the mentors. If implemented with the proper expectations for the mentor it can be a very powerful program.
