Mentorship During Orientation Affects Retention
Introducing mentorship during the orientation process would have a positive feedback on student retention.
Each school has its own unique way of team building and for some schools, having the same uniform works. In our case, it did make a difference.
Ted,
Have you seen a difference with the uniform change?
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Interestingly, when I first arrived at our campus all our students had different uniforms to denote their respective programs such as RT, ST, DA and MA. Presently they all wear the same color blue uniform to help them bond with each other and help them feel like they are all part of the same team. We do have mixers to help students develop camaraderie with each other.
charlene,
The different color uniforms help with this program.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
We have Lamplighters; which are seasoned students that wear a different color uniform. They are available to help and share information with new students
Odette,
Having a "mixer" of some sort with the mentors and the students might be a nice way to introduce them to each other.
