orientation
Orientation is a very important part of the enrollment process
Cynthia,
As I've posted several times in this forum, orientation should be a program that goes beyond a single day.

Orientation is important because it not only lets the student locate classrooms and meet instructors, but also helps the student to realize expectations. This helps the student to be better prepared for his/her educational experience.
Woodrow,
Then your orientation program needs a an overhaul. Orientation Day should engage and excite students. Orientation is not done in one day though. There should be follow up activities.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
To most of our students Orientation is boring and tey do not pay attention and come to class the first day unprepaired
Jamie,
If it is more of a meet and greet than talking heads that makes for a good orientation. Good that the students have done all the paperwork already.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
At our school, orientation is all about the student experience. Prior to the event, most students have completed financial aid, received their schedules and IDs. Orientation is meeting their fellow students,President/faculty and staff members. It's a confidence builder with information about what will happen when they come in for their first class, who will greet them, etc.
Sabrina,
In what ways do you see orientation as important? Is the orientation at your institution fitting those needs?
