Campus Activities
We have various student activities at our campus. We have a student bike show with various vendors.Since it is during Daytona bike week,
several out-of-state freinds and relatives attend this event with our students. We have open houses with students invited to attend. We have as many student oriented functions as possible.
Yeah, how do you get more involvement in school activities? We are all cheerleaders for our events but we've been plagued with poor attendance at the events.
One thing that really stands out to me about our school is the number and quality of events that are set up for students and employees. Fun times where we can have a bite to eat, share a few laughs, and just enjoy each others' company outside of the normal class and lab environments are always a welcome break.

You are correct! Campus activities are critical but how do you get students to participate. At our campus we have tried several tactics with promoting and encouraging students; but they just don’t show. Any ideas?

We have high quality organizations offering excellent real world experience and access to local professionals, but few students take advantage of these opportunities. Something needs to change in the way these events and groups are promoted/viewed on our campus.

If it wasn't for athletics, I don't know how I could have made it through the boredome of my high school. Having activities on a regular basis allows the students to step away and relax from their education responsibilities. I find that this keeps minds fresh and revitalized which can improve their learning. The key is to hide actual learning in some of the activities, then relate it back into the course of study.
Campus activities are critical. We must figure out ways to entice learners to get integrated with other learners and school activities.
