Important
Making each student feel important assists with retention.
ROBERT,
For many students in career schools they come from a background where they have been told success is not an option.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
All students are equipped to make it in almost any field of study. The hard part is convincing them that if they apply themselves study practice and focus on their long term and short term goals they can make it. Most are afraid to go for it is as if they fear success. They would rather stay in the background and not commit to success because of what it means.
I think that is the hardest, and yet most important, roles of an instructor. All students have gifts and abilities--the key is making sure they realize they have those gifts!
It is important that students are made to feel like they really matter and really count. The truth is they are our most important players and we as instructors need to make them feel that way. If one feels good about himself and esteem needs are met, the the success rate for that individual increases.
Danielle,
Sure does. Link all staff to building relationships... then, retention will improve.
