i usually have them all stand up on the last day and tell them to tout their own horns because the have overcome another goal in life
John,
Here is a pat on the back to you for helping students succeed.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
everyone enjoys the pat on on the back for a job well done
Robert,
And they SEE someone that has done the work and survived.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
I try to get students that are in my class now to attend graduations even thought they are not graduating yet
They tend to come back with a "recharged" battery
Eric,
This is great. Why not do this at every class along the way. Completing each course is another step towards graduation. We don't climb mountains in one day. We move up to the next base camp one camp at a time. Reaching the camp is one more achievement.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
On a students last day of class I will ask them to stand up and then ask all other students to applaud. I will then shake their hands and send them off. They will attend their graduation the next day, but it's nice to have a little celebration in the classroom too.
Sharon,
Graduation is why we are the school is it not? Seeing happy graduates and their families make all the struggles worth it.
