Employement for Students
Each and every time try to bring up the discussion of job placement. Keep them interested in the field that they are trying to get a good education on. Nothing can take there knowledge and skills away from them.
Wonderful we should have more job fairs on campus it works.
Eric,
Let them share what they are learning with the other students in the class and with newer students. This only reinforces the value of their learning.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Many of our students are able to obtain entry level jobs in their chosen field before graduation, and those that do have a tendency to be more motivated because they can see the goal clearly in their co-workers who have both the certificate and the experience.
richard,
The employers on campus help students keep their eyes on their education goals.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
we hold job fairs on campus. the students get very excited about te
hem. having employers come on campus to hire them had a positive effect on the way the students feel.
Cara,
Reading the job openings is a great reinforcement for what the students are learning. Discussing how they would be a good fit aids them in preparation for interviewing.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
I read the job openings to the students every week and we talk about how and why they would be a good fit for this company. we also discuss why it is important to keep looking for a the right jog for them. how the skills that they have gotten at school mays them very valuable to thier new boss.
Betty,
Having students research potential employers is very positive. A good fit in the job goes both ways.
Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
I bring up position opening in class on a regular basis to keep the students motivated and do activities to get them to visualize themselves working in some of the adversiments. I also have the research companies they may like to work for and do mock interviews based upon information found from said company's website.
Paul,
Students want to know the relevance of what they are learning to their chosen field. This is an important link to establish and maintain.
