Our Business is Chsnging Lives
Do we really value our students presence in the classroom?
Kenneth,
Great post. Thanks for the reminder.

Not long ago I was chatting with one of our adjuncts. During our conversation, he said that sometimes he wondered if he was really making a difference. I asked him how many students were in his class and he said 22. I said, "Just think. These 22 people made arrangements to be here, took the time to drive here, and pushed all of the distractions in their lives aside just because they felt it was that important to hear what you have to say. Can you think of a greater compliment regarding what you are doing? He left feeling like he could "walk on air".
Jan,
Students show up when the classes are worth showing up to! It sounds like you do all you can to make this happen.

Our student's presence in the classroom is vital to their success. Grades are affected by their attendance.
I always attempt to let my students know that yes, I value the effort it takes to show up for class each week. I know it isn't always easy but it is so worth it in the end. It is important to keep the students focused on the end result.
I should really hope so. It is so rewarding to see the students overcoming their challanges and getting that feeling that they can do and learn anything that they apply themselves to. And knowing that in the number of students I can see that the school is doing well with finances and we can reach more students.
