customers

I feel we do need to treat our students as customers but we have to do it in a way that they know they are our #1 but need to respect us.

Eric,

This is an interesting post. Most schools call their students "customers." What do you see are the main differences between "beneficiaries" and "customers?"

Jeffrey Schillinger

At my school we have a business model where the students are viewed as, "benificiaries" and the industry is viewed as the customer. However, the business model allows us to help our students in all the ways that are suggested in this module.

Meher,

Good point. Retention is everyone's job - as id enrollment, financial aid and placement.

Jeffrey Schillinger

Allthe departments admissions, education, FA and career services have to work together for student success, retention and helping them to graduate and get a job after graduation.

John,

What do you see as the key to making your student-customers happy?

Jeffrey Schillinger

They are definitly our customers and our business will increase if they are happy with us by giving us referals after they graduate

Keith,

Thanks for this post. What are some specific things you do to demonstrate that a student is number one?

Jeffrey Schillinger

the student need to know that he or she is number 1 and that we are here to help them obtain rewarding careers.

Hello,

We can treat our students as customers but they need to know that we care about their academic success. If they keep performing poorly and cannot graduate, we need to let them know that they cannot keep paying for classes and incurring debt. We have to be able to advise them in every situation. We have to worry about them and us. We know that someone who cannot pay back loans, could bring bad debt. to the company. Again, we want our students to be successful.
