Encouragement

Encourage your students and take the time to truly listen to their needs and expectations.

Hi David,

Excellent point to something that is so easy to do (listen and show interest) and so disastrous when we forget to use this basic educational tool.

A smile and a short hello how are you doing will go along way to making a good first impression

Nathan,

We need to take time and listen and respond to those who feel that they can open up to us. This allows a connection to be made and we could become a mentor or just a friend for that person.

I couldn't agree more, if someone opens up and we don't take the time to actualy listen to them we loose credability.

Very well stated. We need to understand that listening does take some effort. Showing care and compassion can go a long way in helping a student cope with learning. We all crave atta boys.

Sometimes we're so busy that we don't really listen. Students pick up on that and it effects our ability to teach them later on. Listening is powerful in encouragement.

I Agree if you do not listen to the students then they prob. will not listen to you

I agree, listening and showing a general concern can go a long way.
