EduPreneurial Spirit
Being a teacher requires the ability to react and nurture as a caring individual, while at the same time keeping in mind that school is a business.
It is important to approach the students with an educator's stance by being fair, firm, friendly and fun and to complete all administrative requirements within required dealines so the business side of the job is completed efficiently.
I think setting high standards and expectations is an appropriate application of the Eduprenueral spirit as long as it is done with an intelligent heart.
Students need to perform to be successful. Faculty members need to maintain a supportive, flexible environment that provides the best chance of success.
Setting policies like "No late work accepted - ever!" or "no make-up tests" may not set the type of environment that fosters student success. Reasonable policies, with consequences for performance below standard, tend to be more effective.
