Making a popsitive impact
Many times over, at the begining of a new class, I have had students write down on a white baord what they wanted out of the course. This technique, I feel, has helped me make the goals/expectations both realistic and specific.
Henry,
How do you identify and manage unrealistic expectations students may have as they enter your program of classroom?
Jeffrey Schillinger
Expectations really hold up the accountability of the campus, employees, and students. I agree that at the beginning of the class student post his or her expectations. set a good foundation for student to start the program in a positive direction.
I like the idea of having the students post at the beginning of the class their expectations. I teach classes in spanish as well and I think it uis a great way to establish rapport. I will apply this technique the following term.
Thanks
That is a great piece of information that will benefit my role as an instructor. Also, assisting in the production of an item that the student had aprehension about and have them achieve the item successfully is a great stride in thier developement.
Thanks, Toufik. This seems like a very positive way to kick off a course.
Have you ever had a student write something totally unexpected? How did you (or the class) respond?
