Cindy,
You are organized to the benefit of the students, which is key. Far too often, teachers have rules and policies that make their lives easier without considering the impact on students. We need to remember it is all about the students.

It is very helpful for me to be prepared ahead of time so that I can relax and pay more attention to the students before and during class and enjoy our learning time together whether in lab or lecture. Students have been great teachers by often saying thank you or how much they appreciated course materials, lectures and labs begin well prepared. They feel more trusting, confident in their educational experience and eager to arrive on time or early just to see what is on the agenda or have that little chance to visit which is meaningful to them.
My technical classroom is very busy and anything can happen, and usually very fast. Being aware and always moveing let the students know that I care for their safty and wel being. This helps promote a safer learning enviroment on its own.
Terry,
How does one demonstrate "preparedness" on a daily basis?
