Goals and vision
How can an admissions rep, program director's attitude change a student's vision and goals?
Listing goal at admission can help to focus students and encourage them to continue theri studies even when times are ruff.
I ask my student what they are looking to accomplish in school any why. I usually find out what is driving them to get an education and what their goals are. I remind them of their goals when the are strssed and remind them "That if is were easy everyone would do it"
I think by taking the time to talk with the student first and listen to what they are saying. Finding out what the envision for their future and what their goals are for changing their current situation. Then relating what the school can do to help them accomplish their goals. What resources are available to them, relating with the student on a personal level. Since we have all been where they are now wanting a good job, a better future, making the decision to start school while being a little or a lot afraid and nervous. These things can help the student realize they are not going to enroll then be on their own to sink or swim.
they can help them by talking to students on different aspects of the school. by touring the campus, finicial aid options, etc. also by making the student feel comfortable about the career they have chosen and help them make the right choice
