WIIFM?
Honestly, I'm not sure. At the end of my first year as a nursing educator, I don't have an answer to that question. And that is a problem for me. hmmmm.....
I think folks are missing the point here, WIIFM? This is a question that everyone from the front desk to the book store clerk needs to be prepared to answer this question from a student. Of course this should be easiest for the recruiters, but the entire organisation needs that focus. The mission statement is a good place to start.

Treat all students with respect and with the feeling that you are genuinely glad to see them and teach them.
Instructors generate positive atitiude by how they deliver instruction. The tone, enthusiasm and the additional resources provided. We also do this by showing a positive regard for our students. Letting them know we care about there personal success.
Instructors may demonstrate positive attitude in a simple smile, sharing positive comments, showing kindness and an interest in a student and other staff member's well being. There are so many ways to show a positive attitude.

I believe that our attitude as instructor does have a big impact on the success of our students. This is hard work.
When I think of what is in it for me, I believe with all my heart that every student or person in general that I come into contact with can be positively or negatively affected by what I do. It all comes back to us eventually. In other words, we impact them every day. This in turn will have an effect on those they come into contact with like ripples in a still lake when you skip a pebble over the surface. Ultimately we impact the business, community and world we live in through this. Doing my best to make a positive impact is what is in it for me. Knowing I am doing the best I can to further the dreams and aspirations of others creates a better world for all of us.
