Team Work Always Works
Having a solid foundation in the business/school mission is very important. Having positive and active players is very important also. You want to make sure to have an open line of communication to ensure that everyone is on the same path.
A team of horse's have to run and pull in the same direction. If one horse is tiring other members of the teeam pull harder, but all are working together.
The mission statement is important but it is more important to get evryone to buy into the statement and support it. You can't pay the mission lip service. If you don't support it you become the weak link in the chain.
As a whole we are much stronger than a sum of our parts. All departments working towards the same goal gives us focus and direction. The best part is that we all see diferent ways to get to the goal and add different strengths. Knowing who is strong at what and appreciating our peers for their strengths makes for a great team environment.
Tim,
What are some of the common visions in your school?
Jeffrey Schillinger
Without a common vision each member of team has their own agenda. While each person might have good intentions the fact that others are not reenforcing the idea means it will most likey fall short of the goal. When everyone works on a common vision the objectives strenghen as the student moves through the program.
Dionne,
Not many folks mention the mission of the institution. Thanks for reminding us of its significance.
