The importance of encouraging students to stay motivated by becoming relatable with them.

I totally agree with getting to know your students well before they begin the program so that the trust is there.  Also, it is very important to share your past experiences as a college student and how you were able to meet new friends to study with and feel more comfortable along this journey.  Once the students see that you all genuinely care then they will be more apt to follow your lead and be successfull.  It takes the entire school and not just one specific department.

I learned about the 3Ms strategy of modeling, mentoring, and monitoring. Also, self-efficacy is a powerful tool in student success. When faculty share personal stories of their academic success and what struggles they experienced, along with peer mentoring programs, students will see that struggles are a part of the journey, but success is at the end of that journey.

It is essential to listen to a student and provide a holistic approach because students also have other roles outside of just being students. Following-up with them and checking in based on your conversation and touching on key points in the next meeting is also important and shows that they are being heard.

I like the idea of the attention=retention.. sometimes hard to put into play... but great in concept!  Giving these students a connectiona and someone that cares- there is a greater likelyhood that they will stay in school- or at least be able to overcome obstacles that normally would have allowed them to give up!

Smile and ask for they ,re doing. More attention greater retention.

Giving students attention and treatign them as valuable individuals can have positive impacts on engagement and retention. We should role model behaviors that we want to see our students develop themselves, including treating people in a caring and individualized manner. If our students can observe us practicing these skills with them, they can utilize the same skills in their future practice.

It is important to help students to see themselves as unique individuals. Motivate them by modeling heart intelligence. Show them that you as the educator cares about their possibilities as well as their successes.

Communicate more effectively  and listen attentively.

As educators, we are always the mentor for our students and we do daily monitor their progress through quizzes and exams, alone with one on one tutoring.

Engaging with each student is important. Some require a phone call while others prefer face to face interaction with the instructor.

I always walk through the hall at school with a smile because I believe it makes me more approachable to the students. I will talk to students who are not in my immediated class because it creates community among all of us.

I've learned from this module that my positive attitude can influence a student's success. If I mentor them and monitor their progress they have a better chance of succeeding. I will make sure that my students know that I am invested in their developement and want to do what I can to help them succeed.
