I think that with delivering a good "E" course the facilitator needs to fully be alert to the learner student point of view. I call LMS-Learning management system, but the idea is same. We have to produce what is expected and realize, "is this something I understand" or "this is something student will understand".  I can see where keeping it simple is crucial. I like a formal outline and inbeded scaffolding system. IF it is posted then it can be seen, if its able to be seen then there should be a discussion oportunity as well a submiting system.
