Rasiel, In a way, sufficient is simply all (or as little) that's needed to achieve the objectives. That said, variety will help keep the lessons fresh, interesting, and enjoyable. Barry Westling
Rasiel, Sounds good. I believe when students are placed into assessment situations that require them to do problem solving or critical thinking type scenarios, they will learn better by it, even though some may feel a bit awkward. Especially true for medical type programs where students will end up treating and interacting with patients. Barry Westling
Brian, Policies do vary among institutions. Seeking out creative methods to keep our lessons fresh and interesting is a continuous work in progress. Barry Westling
Cherie, This sounds great. In general, any time we can individulize our instruction it becomes personal, and therefore memorable. Barry Westling
Adelina , Sounds good. Students usually have enough angst already without unnecessary waiting to get results of testing, especially if they have devoted a lot of time studying in preparation for the exam. It's important to state beforehand when results will be available, then the instructor should do all to adhere to that schedule. Barry Westling
Adelina , Very nice. This proves an important point, that a surefire method to always enage or reengage students is to get their focus on the job setting they're being prepared for. Barry Westling

Sometimes it's a bit of trial and error. Barry Westling

I think, in part, therein lies both the problem and a possible solution. Disinterested, why? Distracted, why? Confused or lost, why? In other words, each observable factor requires a discussion to first learn what might be going on in the backside of their life, determine if they understand the expectations (sometimes students are not aware they are lacking), and provide guidance towards improvement. Chris, Reflection is really a great tool for understanding effective instruction, and self improvement for future classes often results too. A teaching journal is one way to document those meaningful moments. Barry Westling
Chris, Super. With student engagement, their participation contributes significantly to understanding and application. Barry Westling
