Mark, Yes, and unfortunately, once credibility is lost, it's awfully hard to regain ground. Students need to feel confidence about their instructors knowledge, and without adequate preparation, even the best instructor will not shine as bright as they should. Barry Westling

Making field trips and guest speakers a part of instruction

Joyce, Great! I can tell you students love field trips. Contact with local dealers or manufacturers of equipment or supplies can be a great resource. Recent grads are another resource for guest speakers. While they may not have a lot of experience, they do have a lot of energy and enthusiasm, and they're familiar with the course, program, and institution. Barry Westling
