Brandon, Practice makes perfect. That seems to be the message the students need to hear. However, it might be worth reviewing the amount of lab time provided as part of the course. Are students able to achieve the course outcomes within the current amount of time alotted? Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Sara, Have you shared your experience with students regarding clothing designers and sewing skills? This is a great nugget that supports the value of the training provided. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Joe, Thank you for your post. I like that students will help each other out. Research shows that students teaching others retain 90% of what they learn. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Chuck, Thank you for the detailed response. I specifically appreciate that you address the positives and and want the student to walk away knowing their strengths. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Steven, This is a very specific assessment process. I assume students are made aware of this throughout the program and the course. It certainly integrates the lab and lecture very well. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
shaelyn, New and prospective students do like to hear from those that went before them. It helps provide them real expectations. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Meagan, Yes, students do want the whole school experience but their life schedule often does not permit them to partake other than classes. At one of my previous schools students got credit in class if they brought proof they attended a job fair held during their class time. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Debbie, Mastery is relative to the expectations of the curriculum and the course. We are providing students the skills for an entry level position. That is the mastery level expected. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
William, Thank you for your post. Do you share this perspective with the students? It would probably reinforce the "real world" learning we typically provide. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
Jeff, Thank you for your thoughtful and detailed post. Yes, even if we do think students come to us with the appropriate knowledge and experience "reviewing" interview techniques is helpful. Ron Hansen, Ed. D.
