About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Andy, This is how critical thinking is developed. You are holding them accountable for the information and by asking them to go back to the basics you are helping them to become problem solvers as well as reflective processors. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Andy, Good way to turn it back on them and have them reflect on what has been covered and how they need to recall that information for use in the current discussion. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gary, I think this is a very good approach to use since it moves the learners to the content you are wanting them to see and then acquire as a part of the learning process. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Michael, Great to hear because your comments reinforce the value of having something, in this case a well developed syllabus that you can be ready for your first class and that in fact you will survive meeting your students for the first time. I wish you continued teaching success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Arisa, So do I. Some great times in the class as a result of their sharing. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Michael, When you are observing you are learning. I like your approach and I know it pays off in more engaged students and enhanced learning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Manal, Good way to project the professional image of the educator and learning leader you want to be to your students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kenneth, Great points about how the first impression sets the stage for the rest of the course. You are right about how much impact it has on student perception. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
