About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Sofia, You are providing your students with a nice balance of both professional development and rewards through your teaching. You are right about the income that will follow their abilities in the field but also the emotional rewards that come with providing high quality professional health care to patients. Great work in both of these areas. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Stacey, You make a number of good points in your comments about the role of the learning leader in the classroom. You are right about the need to be able to show and model the conduct and expertise needed to provide care to patients. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Stacey, Can you expand on these words to give me an better idea of what you are saying by listing these words? Thanks for your input on this. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ron, Great way to form a foundation for your students. Then they can expand their knowledge and thinking as they gain experience. In the end they will be able to problem solve and be successful in their career areas. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Paula, A few words can go a long way in encouraging and supporting a student that might be on the edge of dropping out or giving up. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Heather, This reduces their concerns and answers their questions so they can be forward focused and ready to take in the contents of the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Heather, The key is to dress in a way that reflects the standards of your career field. There is much variation on what this is but as long as you are a model for the field you will be fine. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Earl, You are right that it is easy for students to get involved in the process of going to school and forget their number one reason for enrolling and where they want to take their career. They need to be reminded at times so they can refresh themselves and get excited once again as to why they are there. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Catherine, This is a great strategy to follow as it will engage your students and keep their interest for the duration of the class sessions. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Catherine, Sharing stories from the field are a great way to show application and relevance to students plus they do just what they did for you, catch their attention. So feel free to share those stories and get your students engaged. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
