About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Robert, This is an overall good model to use because of how it engages all students. They are going to have to be in charge when they are in the workplace so the more experience they can gain the better. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rita, Yes, they do. It is catching for sure so we need to bring that enthusiasm to class each and every time it meets. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
DANIEL, This is a big selling point to students. If they know you are passionate about your field and excited about teaching the content in it then you are setting the stage for excitement on the part of your students and expanding their learning opportunities. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Mary, Your last sentence is so important for students to realize. If they feel valued they will be more open to sharing their ideas and giving input. This builds their confidence and helps them to grow in their field and as communicators. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Darin, It is amazing how a few words of encouragement can have a major impact on the lives of students. So we need to remind ourselves to share these words when we interact with students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
David, I am a big fan of group projects and learning as well. I feel students need to learn how to work with others in different settings as they will be doing such most of their working careers. This is part of their soft skill developmental process. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Erica, This comprehensive approach is a good one since you are reminding students of the course requirements while reinforcing what they have learned so far. This connecting of past, present and future helps to keep them focused and moving forward with their career development. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
RICHARD, Like the way you help students see themselves in the future. By connecting their income to the how well prepared they are they can start to see the value of the content being offered along with the skills being developed. This is how motivation is increased and excitement generated. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, This is a very good point that students need to understand. By getting settled into the course and feeling comfortable they feel like they can contribute and become a part of the learning process. Once this is done they are focused and engaged and the learning process really takes off. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Daniel, You are a good role model for your students since you have returned to college as an adult and are able to share with your students your experiences and help them understand that you know what they are going through by coming back to school. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
