About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Discipline in Critical Thinking

Albert, This is a very common problem in both school and the work place. We have all experienced it. We do need to hold the standards of our field and support our students as they strive to meet the set goals. If the students don't then they have to deal with the consequences of such a decision. Valuing Student Opinions

ROBBIN, This is a method I use as well. Thank you for sharing it in this Forum. I have my students answer the questions on 3X5 cards. That way they have something to work from when called upon. I collect the cards and by reviewing their answers I am able to check for understanding and see if I need to review something that was not clear. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Sherry, This is the right and proper thing to do because as a role model for your students you are wearing what they will be expected to wear when they are in the field. They see you as a professional in dress, conduct and language so they know how to emulate you and thus be ready to enter their field if they have acquired the needed knowledge and competencies. Your Instructional Style

Sherry, This is a good way to get a feel for what the characteristics are of a good instructor and then you can shape your own teaching around that. A lot of your instructional style will be based upon your personality so make sure you know how you come across to your students and use your personality to your advantage when interacting with the.
