About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Alex, You make a very good point about why the question was asked in relation to the context and situation that is being presented. Understanding the context goes a long way in helping students to be able to come up with viable solutions. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Samuel, The more real world examples you can share the better. Students need to know and understand about how variations will occur with patients and situations. Their ability to adapt is what is going to propel them forward in their careers. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
MICHAEL, Repetition is a powerful learning tool that many classrooms and labs no longer use. The human brain needs repetition so the information and skills can be embedded, stored and be ready for use later on. Good strategy to follow. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Samuel, Thank you for these comments as they reflect and reinforce why people enter the fields that they do. Being able to comfort and help a patient brings a level of personal satisfaction to which no money can be attached. As you so well said -- PRICELESS. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Keith, What a great topic area to be teaching in. Your field is rich with content on a regular basis so I know you have some great discussions and your students get the benefit of your experience and expertise with current events. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Daniel, This is why it is good to walk through the classroom and lab and check everything out to make sure the supplies are there and the equipment working. Even then things can fail but at least you will have tried to make sure everything is ready to go and that the learning environment is set for the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Debby, Well said and a good plan to follow. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Debby, What are some ways that you do this both in your field and in instructional development? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nick, Teaching math is a challenge as you know and the way you explain how you help make it have value to students is excellent. The more this is done the greater the students are going to be involved in the learning process. You are making it real, giving it application and showing relevance. This is what I call a teaching trifecta! Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Laura, This is a good way to help make the course content come alive and have value to students. They get to see the relevance as a result of this exercise. Thanks for sharing it with us. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
