About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Jim, Like the way you open a new course. You get everyone engaged and on the same page in terms of information and comfort. This approach will help your students to be prepared for future sessions and what they are going to learn. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Victoria, You have an interesting student group to work with. With the life challenges they are facing it is good to see them in school and hopefully gaining knowledge and expertise that will enable them to move forward in their career development. This is an awesome responsibility to have as an instructor. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gabrielle, This is a good way to get to know more about the learning preferences of your students. You then can customize your instructional delivery to assist your students in their knowledge acquisition. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cynthia, Right you are. To do any less is to not present yourself as a representative of your career field or as professional educator. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
RICHARD, Observing other instructors is a good way to expand your expertise and knowledge of how to deliver content. Also, interviewing experienced educators is a good way to learn about strategies and activities they have used that are effective. The key is to listen and then apply and your instructional abilities will grow. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jeffrey, Good resource to provide your students. This method helps them to be able to check on the acronyms they need to learn at any time and keep the learning process going whether in or out of class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jenny, Students as you have experienced really like it when you relate real life experiences to the content being studied. The more connections you can make between content and application the greater value students will associate with the course and your instructional leadership. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jeffrey, I wish you much success as you rearrange your instructional delivery. Have fun and be creative with your approach and I know you will be even more effective in your instruction. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jim, Well said as your comments hit upon the key elements of what it takes to create a supportive and engaging learning environment. It is upon this foundation that enhanced learning occurs. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Paul, This is a good way for a person to develop his or her critical thinking skills. They need to sort through the information, seek additional input and then decide what the course of action should be. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
