Having all the classroom content organized I think is a must. There are plenty of instructors that just dont understand that. They don't care for the classes or maybe they don't understand the content. But in the lab they are fine. Maybe they should spend a little more time before class getting ready. I think you should be there and ready well before your students. You are then ready to teach your class and they know that.

In most classes the students become friends because they are spending seven months together. I have had a few cases with an excelling student that some of the other students will come to for instruction. In most cases it is minor and not a problem but without hurting there feelings its hard to back them down sometimes when they help to much. Any suggestions on some approaches to this?

In crowded classrooms how can you keep an eye on the cheaters? At what point can you call them out. You don't want to to disrupt the class. We have a lot of true false test. If you hand out different tests then it puts a strain on the grading time.

Once you get involved the things you have done your whole life become easy to share. The help of seasoned instructors is allways good.

The adult students seem to have a lot of external pressure. In some cases they do a great job dealing with it. My hat is off to the students taking care of family, working and going to school. I think it is good to praise them for that.
Trying to keep them involved and listening to them seems to work most of the time. You cant look away!

I go over the syllbus every class room each phase and make it very clear. They are all handed one also. So what do you do with the students that never bring there books and ask for another handout almost every class?

I thought this coarse was great for me. I use a lot of the same tactics but wasn't aware of how important it was to know your students because they are all very different. They all take information in certain ways. The bit by bit and little chunks then putting them in action is going to be my focus. Reinforcement and then transference equals a student that is gaining confidence and trust in him self and the instructor.

How can you motivate the student that never thinks he or she is getting closer to there goal. Maybe from bad past experiences!

Reminding myself that I was once in there shoes helps me stay focused on the days when it seems hard to deal with them. I leave it at the door! I also let my students know that I was where they are at one point also. So they can do it also...
