Mignonne, You bring up a great point. Often what we teach students is the 'theory' behind the knowledge, whereas working in the 'real world' is always a different story. Great point! Dr. James Willis III

Medhin, Absolutely; the internship process is a great way for employers to get to know future employees! Dr. James Willis III
Brady, I'm glad you brought up Blooms'! You are very right that on the job learning transcends Blooms' understanding of application. Thank you for introducing other experiential theories used elsewhere; this is certainly an ongoing process to learn what works in the "real world" as you rightly point out. Great job! Dr. James Willis III
Eloise, Excellent points! I think your 'existential' argument is very true; for students to work in the health field, especially in direct contact with patients, they need to have experience dealing with life and death. You are very right that no textbook can teach that. Dr. James Willis III

Dr. Enrique, Excellent point! Many times employers need the extra time with prospective employees to determine skill sets, critical thinking abilities, and ability to interact with coworkers. Internships are an excellent primer to help students learn those skills, as well as provide a constructive forum for employers to get an in-depth look at a future colleague. Dr. James Willis III
Cheyney, This is a fantastic example; thank you for sharing! Allowing a student to have the 'safe' space to learn is vitally important, and if not for anything else, it gives them the opportunity to experience first-hand before they go into the field. Thanks again for the example! Dr. James Willis III
Medhin, That is very true; internships do exercise the learning domains in a way that oftentimes doesn't happen in the classroom. Great point! Dr. James Willis III
