Hi David! The questions you want to ask yourself 1) will it be distracting or offensive for some students, and 2) will it offer a positive environment for learning? But using in a combination that students are learning the class topic as well as experiencing a fun, peacful environmnet is certainly acceptable. Moderation is probably the key to using the art "in-contrast". Keep up the good work! Jane Davis Ed107 Facilitator
Hi Sofhia! The other benefits are 1) it builds students' self-confidence,and 2) provides real-world information related to work environment. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Chan! I totally agree! We have to know each student's needs and learning types. Otherwise, we do students a disservice. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED107 Facilitator
Great Chan! Anything that instructors do in their classroom to enhance learning is a positive for students. It also helps instructors have resources they can point to during discussions or they can create discussion. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED107 Facilitator
Good job Joanne! Instructors have to have a baseline for working with all their students and you definitely have a great approach. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi David! Actively engage students by assisting them with their learning - GREAT approach. Have you found any significant results from this approach, if so, please share. Keep up the outstanding work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Sofhia! Practice and breathe! Practice as your planning for class, practice when you are talking with friends and family, practice when you talking with your dog or cat, practice when shopping or talking with someone on the phone. Nine times out of ten, the classroom is not the only place where we have a tendency to speak to fast. BREATHE, BREATHE, and BREATHE! So - I suppose the bottom line is concentrate on what delivery skills you want to build and PRACTICE and BREATH!! Good luck and keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Angel! An excellent reminder to eveyone who uses email as a form of communication. In face to face convervation, it is easier to make adjustments as we move along but once we hit the send button it is a done deal and there is no going back. good job! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Great strategy Kelvin! Repetition and reenforcement is an excellent approach for all students. Slowing the pace, modifying your delivery and assisting students where possible are some of the best options when you have a number of other students to work with as well. Keep up the good work! Hi Kevin! You are definitely headed in the right direction. You have to learn more about your students. As you mentioned, there are several ways to get acquainted with students, but the direct contact/communication is the best. Good job! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
