Hi Mark! Thanks for sharing! Personal experience is the best educator preparing us - in your case - to be particularly sensitive to students' learning disabilities. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Sharon! When I have a group that just can't stay on task I give them a task list for each class that has helped in most cases. As a last straw, I will move group members around. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitators
GREAT list for instruction support Vernice! It should be very helpful for all of us who are likely to work with students with learning disabilities. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Kimberly, if the door is open to discuss student challenges with family, it a great place to learn more about their needs. If that is not available, what can can instructors do? Good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Yes, Vernise a very productive approach. Most challenged students require smaller amounts of information at a time and more time to get the work accomplished. Then - a another participant in the cours posted - and patiences. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Absolutly Nydia! Why try to fix something that isn't broken and has worked well in the past. But it's always nice for students to have fresh, new approaches to learning. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
I totally agree Kimberly! I am not artistic but I am creative and clever to the point that students have fun learning. So instructors don't have to be artisits to produce something which enhances learning. Good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Nydia! What are some of the strategies that you use for helping students identify words by association? Good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Debra! Your observation of group challenges are right on target. A few other challenges that I have experienced is placing people in groups, having the antagonist in a group, people who are no shows for the presentation portion, and the "know it all" just to mention a few. But the good thing that I have learned that approaching students and having a reasonable conversation has been mostly successful for working these challenges through. Keep up the good work!
