About me

Antoine Lewis currently serves as the Family and Student Support Liaison for Hoosier Academies in Indianapolis, IN providing a range of services to parents and faculty (K-8). 2013 - 2014 he was the Academic Advisor for Indiana Wesleyan University. He is also a part-time faculty member and consultant at various institutions and has been tutoring and teaching at the collegiate level for various institutions since 2003, specializing in courses related to business, education and information systems. Prior to this, Antoine was a Student Affairs Specialist at Harrison College and an Academic Coordinator for ITT Technical Institute. Overall he has an extensive background in student affairs, academic advising and online facilitation.

Antoine's passion to help students with their education started while at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), while advising and mentoring student-athletes. Throughout the years, he has provided training to staff and management in regards to database usage and learning management systems to track student progress. He believes in expanding ones knowledge and improving a student’s life, long-term.

Barbara, Powerpoint,virtual simulation, and youtube technology in the classroom provides several relative advantages. For example:Video provides the opportunity for students to experience events that are otherwise not present in the text. These methods provides students with demonstration to go with the material learn from text/lecture. Antoine Lewis

Shirley, With technolgy we can adapt to the different learning styles by sharing various teaching techniques. I wish you continued success as sitting in the classroom and listening to a lecture will not reach every student. Antoine Lewis

Allyson, Mixing up your teaching method helps when needing to keep students engaged. The arm used to simulate taking blood pressure is a good and they get to apply what they have learned. I believe that we all should teach them, show them and let them when it comes to learning. Antoine Lewis

Gene, PPT is a Highed Ed. standard for delivering interactive multimedia presentations, Microsoft PowerPoint, just about a decade old now, is beginning to pop-up in classrooms of all levels. PowerPoint is a wonderful tool for learning in both a student and teacher-directed situation. It can add a new dimension to learning allowing teachers to explain abstract concepts, while accommodating all learning styles. Kimberly, These enhanced CDs are often not used by student unless part of the guidelines in the classroom. You can often find practice exams, lectures, and interactive lesson. Its a great learning tool and used more in virtual learning environments. Antoine Lewis

Donna , YouTube is more than just a video site. It’s matured into one of the biggest resources for educational content ever. Engage students by showing a video relevant to their potential profession. Video clips can bring in different perspectives or force students to consider a new viewpoint, helping to spark a discussion. Antoine Lewis
Jeremy, Workplace simulations are key to learning today. In the case of criminal justice students need to learn what they should do from search, sentencing and anticipating dangers. Simulations that are interactive can be very benefical to the learning process. Antoine Lewis
