Thomas, I agree with you completely. Don't you wonder when the printing press made textbooks available, did they ponder the role of "technology" of printing? The learning should drive the use! Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Melissa, Great point. You don't want technology to go from tool to barrier quickly. Students need to be able to focus on the learning not focus on the technology. Technology should be ubiquitous. (I love that word). Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Melissa, You are so right. Your comment regarding accuracy is so important as well as reliability. We have state testing online and the computers each institution has varies greatly. This can really be an issue in high ed online ed. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Erica, I agree with you. Have you thought of creating your own using screen capture to explain the syllabus and other course issues. Then give them an exam over it. It will help students learn to take an online quiz and it insures they know what is important in your class. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Erica, Great post. It is so important to remember it isn't about the technology it is the tool. I love technology but, you have to be able to control it and use it for a purpose. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

Revonna, Thank you for sharing your experiences. I too use wikis quite a bit in a writing course. Students can write to one paper and I can follow who is participating. The students really like to use it as they feel it is an efficient way to write a group paper. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

Lesley, I use microblogging to strength writing skills, to keep word count down. Students feel they have to use so many and business writing isn't that way! It seems to speed up the learning process of less is better. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

Lesley, I like your way of thinking! You are making your students to articulate their own viewpoint regarding a discussion and others have to respond. What a great way to connect discussion and blogging. Thank you for sharing this is a valuable technique. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

Earl, These are great techniques. Do you provide your students with "good" and "bad" examples of posts? I to think this helps them understand the expectations. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Melinda , If the blog is used to evaluate writing and/or the skills and knowledge defined by you in your objectives of the lesson and/or course. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
