David, do you communicate these important points in group meetings? How often? Do you spend a lot of time with individuals reviewing this information? Loren Kroh
Instructors would seem to have a point if their evaluation is reduced by things that are beyond their control. Is there a way to communicate these extraneous issues? If the institution is serious about using surveys as an instrument for improvement, it must respond to all the issues that are identified. Hopefully, department heads will communicate the students' concerns to those who can fix them. Loren Kroh

You certainly have a lot of choices. What have provided to be most effective? Loren Kroh
REVEKKA, how do you provide the contact information to your students? Do you have a way to verify that the students really receive and know how to use this information? Loren Kroh

Online instructors have the additional challenge of becoming "real" to their students. It sounds like you also have the challenge of integrating students enrolled in a common program, but coming to your course from different campus cultures. Does that present a particular problem? Loren Kroh

Who does this advising? Is always the same person for a student? What kind of paper trail is kept? Loren Kroh
Discussion Comment
Patricia, what happens to the counseling forms? Does the student get a copy? If so, do you have them sign to acknowledge receipt? [If you don't I would recommend that you do in the future. It provides a paper trail if you should have to discipline the student for inadequate performance.] Does a copy go to their master file? Loren Kroh
Discussion Comment
Darakshan, how do you know that the students have actually received the email about an overdue assignment? Students can be quite skillful in avoiding email from the campus address. Loren Kroh

What format do you use for the weekly progress reports? Are they oral or written? Loren Kroh
Discussion Comment
Katie, sounds like your institution has a strong student centered culture. In your third point you mention that students are free to speak in your morning and evening meetings. What are these meetings? Who participates? What's their objective? Loren Kroh
